We are in the midst of one of the driest periods in Texas history. We’ve been running ragged trying to keep all the sprinkler systems in Austin up and running. We have never been this busy before!

Read more about the drought here.

Right now the most important things to remember is that all systems have imperfections. Sprinkler systems in Austin are at best 65% efficient. This means some areas will get more water and some less. Your lawn will not look drier all over, it will have patches of green and dry areas. This is due to sprinkler application patterns, poor soil conditions in the Austin area and the unrelenting drought we are in currently.

Try and be sure your plant material has some water, your foundation has enough water and your turf gets some. In this type of drought most turf will turn a shade of brown as it goes dormant to protect itself. This does not mean the grass is dead.
